Pharmaceutical Grade hCG Vs. Homeopathic

By Alina Karemin

In today's society, losing weight and leading a healthier lifestyle is important. Every day, new methods of weight loss are popping up and not all of of them have been tried and tested. One such treatment is the use of hCG to lose weight. Two types of hCG, a pharmaceutical grade form and a homeopathic form, are generally available on the market.

But which one is recommended and which one is better? We will examine this here.

Pharmaceutical grade hCG

Pharmaceutical grade human chorionic gonadotropin is one that is available only on prescription by a physician. Pharmaceutical grade hCG would have undergone rigorous testing in clinical trials to ensure its efficacy, before it became available as a drug in the pharmacy - this is reassuring. Dr ATW Simeons recommends it in particular concentrations. According to Dr Simeons (the founder of the hCG diet), in order to lose weight, the hCG product must contain at least 125 IU of hCG. Anything less is ineffective and generally useless.

Homeopathic hCG

A fair bit of controversy has stirred over the usage of homeopathic hCG. The contents of the drop form that is available, were shown in a breakdown to contain water, vitamins, alcohol and only trace amounts of hCG, if any at all. As the hCG diet protocol requires a minimum amount of hCG for effective weight loss, it's hard to know how much hCG one receives with the drops.

Discussions have been held on a number of Internet forums about the usefulness of homeopathic hCG. While the general opinion seems to be that it does not help anyone lose weight, some people seem to have found the benefit. It is highly likely that the benefit they have received is more of a placebo effect on the weight loss is a result of their diet and exercise.

Advice on purchasing

It is essential that you see a doctor to first ensure it is right for you, if you are keen to start the hCG diet. It is strongly recommended that you do not purchase 'hCG drops' on the Internet as they are likely to be homeopathic medication that may be completely useless. A physician prescribed pharmaceutical grade hCG assures you that you are receiving the right amount of hCG as recommended by Dr Simeons to be the effective dose to lose weight.

Conclusion

There differences between pharmaceutical grade and homeopathic hCG are significant and important. The available evidence shows that the homeopathic hCG is clearly inferior to pharmaceutical grade hCG.
